Il linguaggio del ventaglio è fatto di gesti e sguardi. Le donne hanno da sempre saputo come usarlo per esprimere se stesse anche nel silenzio, disegnando nell’aria volteggi di parole.
Al museo della paglia e dell'intreccio ecco una sfilata di ventagli tailandesi, messicani, europei. Si potrebbe credere che solo la delicatezza della seta possa produrre un ventaglio degno di questo nome.



Invece è sorprendente vedere come un materiale non propriamente etereo come la paglia possa essere trasformato nel più elegante degli oggetti.
Una fibra che viene lavorata in innumerevoli forme e colori da esperte mani artigiane, italiane e non.

Nel museo trovano posto anche i famosi cappelli di paglia fiorentini, resi celebri dall'opera lirica di Nino Rota e più tardi dal film di René Clair. Un copricapo in armonia con i colori della campagna—il giallo dei campo, del grano e del sole. (SeeTen production)

The language of the fan is made up of gestures and glances. Women have always known how to use it to express themselves, even in silence, drawing a torrent of words in the air.

At the Museum of Straw and Weaving find a succession of Thai, Mexican, and European fans.



It's easy to think that only silk can make an elegant fan, and yet it straw, as earth-bound as it is, somehow gets transformed into the most elegant of objects, woven by expert hands. A fiber that is reconfigured into innumerable shapes and colors by experienced artisans, both Italian and international.

In the museum you can also see examples of the famous Florentine straw hat. These were made famous in the opera-farce by Nino Rota and later by celebrated director René Clair. A cap in harmony with the tones of nature - the yellow of the field, of grain, and of the sun.
